LICENSE TO CANE

According to The Martinsburg Journal, a Shepherdstown councilman allegedly assaulted the drummer of a band performing at fundraiser that took place recently at the War memorial Building. The concert was part of a fundraiser  for the Rude Mechanicals, a Shepherd University theatrical group. Apparently, the elderly councilman objected to the noise issuing from the building, and he allegedly sought to quell it by allegedly  belaboring the drummer with his cane. In addition, he allegedly destroyed band equipment  in the value of 250 dollars.
  • Do you think we need a noise ordinance  or do you favor hiring a Caning Officer to deal with the increasing levels of noise pollution in our town?
  • Do you know how the noise ordinance would be enforced, given that we have a reduced police force and a growing number of incidents of breaking and entering  and vandalism?
  • ARE THISTLES A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE?

At a recent candidates night, one of the town residents asked those running for town council if they would be prepared to do battle against a lone thistle growing on German Street. She feared for the aesthetic sensibilities of tourists visiting our "tony town."

  • ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THE TOWN'S WEED ORDINANCE? DO YOU FEEL WE THAT NEED TO HIRE  WEED POLICE? SHOULD THE OFFICERS BE ISSUED FLAME THROWERS AND AGENT ORANGE?

This list of weeds and the animals for which they serve as sustenance comes from West Virginia's Department of Natural Resources.
