Old Unterrified has a few questions for Mayor
Lance Dom and Town Council,
"What does the Town Charter have to say about scheduling Town Council meetings? Does it refer to a specific
time? "
"How many activists in the East End Afro-American community have been invited to participate in discussions
about annexation?"
"Some local women feel that elected officials are trying to suppress dissent by labeling dissenters--women
in particular--disloyal and disrespectful. How can you convince
Shepherdstown citizens that you are doing what you were elected
to do, that is, serving the entire community equally?"
"Joanne Wright, the first African American woman to serve in the local Town Council has devoted her life
to the struggle for fair treatment for all residents of Shepherdstown.
Has Town Council considered honoring her services to the community?"
BURNING ISSUES
- Paper streets--do you know what they mean to the quality of life in your neighbourhood? Say that a street
appears in a map, but as in the case of Rocky Street, it has been inaccessible to SUV owners. Should the town leave
it alone ? Why not? What about the Town Run? Its course has been diverted more than once in the history of the shire? Let
us hope no maps show running right through ted town officials' houses. It will be hell to put back.
- Sara Cree Cabin--One less historic building in the shire. Was Frodo a fraud?
- Annexation--Call the ents. Rivendell, LLL, owned by Elizabeth Hurney submitted a petition for annexation of 19.1 acres in the East
End of Town. If the annexation goes through, Rivendell will be
in a position to submit a proposal to subdivide the land and to build 68 houses. Along with its initial petition, Rivendell offered 50, 000 for the Town Council to use at its discretion. We suggest that
if accepted, the sum should be used for the rehabilitation of rogue elves.
- THE W WORD
Can you say watershed area? These are the words that strike fear into the heart of rogue elves and their
minions. Keep them in mind and call the feds, if need be.
